Our Special Place is a licensed therapeutic learning center for children with special needs. They provide a variety of therapeutic services such as Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Applied Behavioral Analysis. Their “Kids Club” offers an array of classes for special needs children ages 2 - 12. These small, structured classes were designed in three phases: Explain, Experience and Express. Explain is the preparation phase, in which visual schedules are used to explain the sequence of activities for each session. During the Experience phase, learners will engage in specified activities depending on the group in which they are participating. The final “Express” phase ends each session with a review of the activities. All instructional methods for these classes were derived from the most current research in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Kids Club classes will be 40 - 60 minutes per session depending upon the type of class. The extensive list of classes to choose from includes: Cooking Creations; Cool Crafts; Fitness and Fun; Let’s Be Social; Pals at Play; Me & My Mom. Class size per group is six children, one instructor and one assistant and each session will run for eight weeks.
