Now celebrating 10 years of early childhood ministry, St. John’s Lutheran Church Early Childhood Center offer s programs for children ages 2-4 years. The 2 year old program focuses on gradual separation. Providing an introduction to school and positive first school experience are the goals of this unique program— children need to turn 2 by December 1 to participate. The 2 year old format has children attending class for two days a week, either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Friday program with the early morning session starting at 9-10:30am or the later morning session from 11am-12:30pm. Classes comprise two teachers and are limited to seven children. The 3 year old program has a numbers of primary goals, including setting a good foundation for children’s first school experience and making sure that the children feel secure and happy being at school. Focusing on the development of social, emotional, physical and creative areas, the 3 year old program accepts that children will learn at an individual rate. The core 3 year old program is offered on Tuesday and Thursday, either 9-11:30am or 12:05-2:35pm. Four year olds attend sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday with the primary focus on becoming kindergarten-ready. Classes are structured in a “center-driven” format with a monthly theme. Children will be exposed to all the skills they will need to make a successful transition to kindergarten. Also available for both 3 and 4 year olds are enrichment sessions and extended day sessions on Fridays.
