The Solomon Schechter School of Queens is a Conservative Jewish day school that caters to pre-k - 8th grade. Sponsored by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, affiliated with the Solomon Schechter Day School Association and chartered by the N.Y.S. Board of Regents, it boasts more than 50 years of excellence in Judaic and general studies! Its graduates are accepted to the finest Jewish and secular high schools in the region. More important, they go on to become productive members of the American Jewish community. As graduate Peter Bass said, “Going to Schechter gives you a sense of grounding and identity that carry with you through your whole life.” Schechter has officially expanded its educational scope and includes an all-day pre-kindergarten program for 4-year-olds. It has also paved the way for middle-school students currently attending public schools to join Schechter in the sixth grade. This program affords these students the opportunity to receive a first-rate Jewish and secular education. The school’s small classes provide a nurturing environment where each child’s development and growth is maximized and life-long friendships are made. The Solomon Schechter School of Queens puts an emphasis on values, identity, and language of the land of Israel. It offers students state-of-the-art math, science and computer labs and a comprehensive library collection enhanced by online computers. Its students achieve grades in the top percentile on standardized test scores. The school is also noted for receiving many prestigious awards (both students and teachers) for its Hebrew and general studies curricula. The fun doesn’t stop once the school day is over - athletic teams and after school music, art and sports clubs are available. From 3:30-6:30pm, afterschool care is offered for working parents in the Extra Inning Program, Inc. A new, state-of-the-art playground enhances the school and after-noon programs. Transportation is yet another perk offered. Many of the school’s dedicated, licensed, experienced teachers have been with the school for as long as 20 years.
