SLCD’s preschool program works with children 2½-5 to develop their cognitive, language, motor and social skills. This preschool program enriches language development through its curriculum increasing pre-academic and academic skills, as well as developing social interactions among peers and adults. Full day classes are available. Children are placed in classrooms to enrich their language learning experiences. Both the preschool and school age programs offer a variety of related services including speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, music therapy, art therapy, computers, library, physical education, movement and counseling. The school age program focuses on the relationship between language development and academic success. They use a team of educators and therapists with a small student to teacher ratio to coordinate each child’s instructional goals and activities. The school age program follows the New York State Learning Standards which are individualized to meet each child’s distinctive needs. SLCD’s Admissions and Evaluation Center can determine if your child’s overall development is age appropriate, of if there is a delay in language and communication, fine motor, gross motor, sensory, social-emotional, behavior and cognitive/intellectual development. SLCD also offers All for Kids, a non-profit child care center licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
