The Martha Merideth School of Dance, Theatre and Drama, with a history of excellence for more than 49 years, continues to be an outstanding visionary in the education and development of its students and future stars. Its founder, artistic director and teacher, Martha Merideth, and the certified faculty, update, expand and re-invent the school curriculum. Currently, the school is introducing something new, exciting, and innovative: on-camera workshops for ages 7 through teens and adults. The youngest children’s division ages 3 to 5 offers a start on the right foot. Ancestral movements which lead to the techniques of ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop, are taught protecting the children’s soft bone structure and joints while having fun. Stage craft and lots of movement is explored through improvisation. Creative Theatre for ages 3 to 5 exposes the child to musical theatre dance, singing and acting beginning with pre-Vaudeville and pantomime. At ages 5 to 7, there are different levels and divisions when the children explore the technical treats of Intro to Dance and Tap, Russian Pre-Ballet and Tap, Russian Vaganova Ballet, and the Musical Theatre at a high level of Broadway. From ages 7 to teens and adults, different divisions, levels, and gifted head-start programs based on the Russian Vaganova technique include classical ballet technique, pointe, character, lyrical jazz, pantomime and variations. The popular techno hip-hop, jazz and tap programs offer students of all ages the benefits of fitness as well as today’s styles. Teens and adults divisions effectively benefit the individuals in acting, musical theatre, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and ballroom, both in classes and elective performances.
