Life’s WORC is a not-for-profit agency that provides comprehensive support to people with developmental disabilities including mental retardation and autism. Founded in 1971, Life’s WORC today manages 34 homes and 13 community programs throughout Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Life’s WORC was founded upon the belief that every individual is entitled to live with dignity and to be treated with respect regardless of physical and/or mental capabilities. Life’s WORC Community Services offer a variety of supports and programs for more than 700 children and adults with a developmental disability or an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The programs and services offered include a variety of program models designed to support small groups with intensive staffing supports. This format provides the children with greater opportunities for individualized attention. The inclusion programs offer the children opportunities to engage in positive behavior modeling and activities to expand on socialization skills.
