Who couldn’t use a helping hand every once in a while? The next time that your child needs help with anything from homework, socialization skills, gym and sporting instruction to arts and crafts, music therapy, life skills training and tutoring, turn to the experts at Helping Hands in Old Bethpage. Their weekday afterschool programs are led by caring staff members under the direction of executive director Vanetta LaRosa, M.A. BCBA, assistant directors Dr. Jane Albert and Denise Wright. Trained special education teachers and counselors, individual and group counseling and pre-vocational instruction are all available, and highly-trained Para professionals are on hand. The ABA afterschool program is center-based with the added benefit of having social skills training among other children as opposed to being at home. A Saturday Socialization Program is offered year round from 10am-3pm, with a high staff to participant ratio and small groups for ages 5-21. Physical education classes, art therapy, cooking, art and crafts, sports and outdoor recreation are led by the educated and caring staff members.
