Dance and Exercise for the Physically and Mentally Challenged. Children and young adults who are developmentally and/or medically disabled are encouraged to develop self confidence, an increased awareness of body control and experience socialization through a special program, offered by the Hannah Kroner School of Dance. The classes are structured and adapted according to individual needs. Ballet, jazz and exercise fundamentals are used in a creative manner to assist in the development of fine and gross muscle strength, coordination, flexibility and endurance. These are combined with auditory and visual experiences, which are important in the development of sensory awareness and receptive language skills. Additionally, this year the school will be giving partial scholarships to new deserving students. The Nancy Baron-Leblang Memorial Scholarships will be awarded in Nancy’s honor by her family. Ms. Baron-LeBlang was the beloved founder and teacher of this special dance program. The program, which provides the student with a high degree of motivation, success and pleasure, is conducted by experienced dance and exercise instructors who have a devoted interest in those with special needs. The School was the recipient of a Community Service Award given for outstanding work with the A.C.L.D. For more information about the Program, call or stop by the School.
