Bright Star Country Day School offers terrific learning experiences for children 18 months to five years old. The progressive curriculum encompasses an exciting range of educational opportunities and activities. Children learn through hands-on experiences. An interdisciplinary approach is used, incorporating computers, math, science, social studies, reading and social skills through thematic units. The whole language and literature based curriculum also includes phonics instruction and an emphasis on multi-cultural studies. A music and a creative movement program add to the learning adventure while parachutes, bean bags and rhythm sticks add to the fun! To foster an early appreciation for the fine arts, the curriculum will include “The Artist of The Month.” Works of the selected artist will be hung around the classroom, age appropriate discussions of the work will follow and children will even be given the chance to paint, color or draw just like the artist! Given a range of activities to choose from, children develop decision-making and problem-solving skills while developing a sense of responsibility and pride. At Bright Star Country Day School, children gain a positive attitude about themselves and learning. A loving, caring environment prevails in the small classes which are run by certified teachers and their assistants. Schedules include half, full day and extended hours. Bright Star Country Day School is a New York State licensed facility that also runs a summer camp.
