In
a caring and positive atmosphere, the teachers at Temple Emeth create
a warm and happy place for pre-schoolers to learn. As they bridge the
gap from school to home, Temple Emeth guides children to a positive
self-image while strengthening their social, emotional, cognitive and
physical skills. Concrete, age-appropriate activities and experiences
are planned that coincide with the Jewish holidays. Shabbat is celebrated
weekly in every class and bi-monthly as a school. Projects are planned
that stress “the process rather than the product,” emphasizing
the accompanying sense of accomplishment and pride. Based on the theory
that “Children learn through play,” classroom routines encourage
active involvement and meaningful experimentation. Schedules are designed
which balance structure and free choice, as well as active and relaxed
periods. Recognizing that children grow in predictable stages, Temple
Emeth treats each child as an individual - working from the level each
child has attained and moving them forward one step at a time. They
teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own
stage of development and help them feel success without pressure. Temple
Emeth values the active involvement of parents in their school through
committee and family participation. The children see their parents as
important and concerned members of their school environment while parents
are provided with opportunities to see their children with their teachers
and classmates. Please call for more information and a tour of the school.
