The principal aim of the Rockland Country Day School is to provide an academic curriculum and intellectual environment suitable for young people preparing for advanced education in the arts and sciences. Succeeding in this aim, RCDS enjoys a well-trained and humanistically oriented faculty who embody a compassionate and concerned view of life in an environment that encourages intellectual and artistic interests and initiative. The freedom of the student, the courage to reach out beyond oneself even at a certain risk, is cherished even while the school seeks to give that freedom and courage a responsible, meaningful and mentally disciplined context. Recognizing and rewarding students for intellectual, artistic and moral effort and achievement, the faculty encourages them to engage in mutually beneficial relationships with the larger community, to constantly re-examine values and always to shun complacency. Offering an in-depth curriculum in the arts and sciences, RCDS accepts students PreK-12 who are independently minded and who seek an education where their gifts and individuality will be fulfilled.
