The Primary School at Young World is designed to educate bright Kindergarten through fifth grade students in a safe, nurturing atmosphere. The fully-modernized facility features five classrooms, twelve teachers and ninety students. The Primary School’s challenging environment lays the groundwork for a solid foundation in learning by presenting children with a full curriculum and a wealth of stimulating, hands-on activities. Students are exposed to Mathematics, Science, History, Computers, Geography, French, the Fine Arts and the Language Arts, including reading, writing, literature, thinking, speaking and listening. Important values such as critical and creative thinking, sure knowledge and good work and study skills are promoted through the program. Classrooms are a place of productive activity as students work on age and ability-appropriate activities. The school’s experienced teaching staff exercises an interdisciplinary approach to learning by educating children both individually and in small groups. The school believes in developing a child physically as well as mentally and provides both indoor and outdoor physical education. A nature walk, featuring a butterfly garden, pond and Native North American plants are a recent addition to the outdoor learning area. YWDS also offers both Traditional Preschool classes and a Montessori 3 - 5 class.
