YMCA Child Care…a safe place to be. For more than 100 years, the YMCA has demonstrated the highest standard of quality in childcare and is, in fact, the largest provider of childcare in the United States. Metro YMCAs of the Oranges is the largest YMCA in New Jersey, and its child care programs offer children, ages 6 weeks to 14 years old, an opportunity to explore, develop and learn under the caring supervision of competent and trained professionals. All teachers are experienced and certified by the state of New Jersey in Early Childhood Education, while teacher assistants and caregivers receive professional YMCA training. The YMCA is also licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Service and is regularly inspected by their professional staff regarding standards, curriculum and safety. East Orange and West Essex YMCA Peanut Shell are NAEYC accredited programs. YMCA Child Care Centers are safe, healthy, loving environments where children can learn and grow, experiencing creative, enriching programs, small classes with personal attention and outdoor playgrounds with modern and safe equipment. In addition, the YMCA provides Extended Day and Vacation Care Programs, which offer a safe place for children to do homework, participate in arts & crafts, gym activities, games and special events. Nutritious snacks and transportation are provided at some locations. Visit their website at www.metroymcas.org or call your neighborhood branch for more information.
