Dedicated to keeping the arts alive in their community, Young at Art has been a familiar name in the Matawan area since 1990. This cozy Monmouth County studio is the perfect place for children to make friends, explore their creative sides and have some fun. A low student-instructor ratio in each one-hour class offers just the right amount of individual attention, as well as the opportunity to explore a wide variety of artistic materials. Programs for adults and seniors are also available. When weather permits, students bring their canvas and easels outside in the flowery garden or the front porch to practice the skill of catching light and cast shadows in a natural setting. Young at Art was created by local artist and teacher Maria Milazzo, who even after more than two decades continues to share her love of art to participants of all ages and skill levels. Although oil painting has been Maria’s first choice of medium for her own personal work, a wide variety of creative materials are introduced to students as they experience different styles, techniques and textures. In addition to their daily art classes, Young at Art is also home to special summer classes and fun-filled birthday celebrations!
