At Thomas School of Horsemanship Summer Day Camp and Riding School, horses have been bringing out the best in children for more than 60 years. Each day, horses teach children about caring, compassion and empowerment. The Summer Day Camp provides traditional camp activities complemented with a specialization horseback riding program. Campers participate in riding lessons, horse care lessons and Red Cross swim lessons every day; are taught dance, drama or arts and crafts; and are coached in team sports like soccer, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, volleyball or an individual sport like gymnastics, tennis, karate or archery. Teenagers have the full riding program and participate in a counselor training program and learn how to be riding instructors, swim instructors or counselors. At the conclusion of the summer camp, the full-year riding school programs begin. Riding lessons are offered for all levels– Beginner through Show– and all ages– 5 through adult. Weekly lessons are given after school and on weekends throughout the year. Thomas School’s multifaceted programs offer: one-week camps during school vacations throughout the year, called Equine Studies; birthday parties; school trips; Scout badges; college riding teams; BOCES Equine program; a boarding facility and monthly horse shows.
