For more than 30 years, Thelma K. Reisman Preschool of Beth El has been dedicated to providing young children with a warm, caring and nurturing environment within a conservative Jewish framework. Students feel right at home in a comfortable, brightly decorated facility that includes its very own library, spacious indoor and outdoor playground and large, sunny rooms featuring an array of opportunities for imaginative play, quiet reading and art activities. Parents choose from sessions for two, three and four year olds. Seeing no difference between education and recreation for a preschool-age child, the school’s basic philosophy is the belief that “the business of children is play.” To strengthen this belief children work on the meaning of their experiences as they build with blocks, paint, listen to stories, sing songs, gather information, participate in gymnastics, yoga and Israeli dance, or tell stories for their teacher to record. Improvisation and informal drama are also used to encourage children to express themselves more creatively. Classes are led by a staff of state-certified teachers and experienced teaching assistants. Moms and dads can also provide their little ones with some “Summer Fun,” as Thelma K.
