The Horizon Program, hosted on the scenic four-square-mile NYIT campus, offers a large and varied selection of activities. There are three distinct and separate programs. The Minors Program, for children ages 3-8, offers challenges and awakens new interests for all. Children are inspired to learn and engage in new experiences and develop friendships with others who share similar abilities. Children participate in a stimulating environment and choose their daily activities. Some of the choices are art, tennis, computers, writing, rocketry, chess, science, theater, athletics and many more. The important areas of decision making, creative problem solving and critical thinking are emphasized. The Transition Program (ages 7-8) is for children who want to make a gradual transition into the Major Program. Transition introduces a modified Major Program that includes activities with older children. Children choose a major in one subject area for three mornings a week of participation. The remaining time is spent on individualized choices. The Major Program (ages 9-14) offers daily individual and group instruction in Major choice areas. Majors include athletics, computers, television, rocketry, theater, strategy games, tennis, photography, fine arts and more. Visit the website for further details.
