With two campuses in New York’s vibrant Flatiron District, The École, formerly École Internationale de New York (EINY), is an intimate and independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students. At The École, we artfully blend the best of the French and American educational systems, gifting our students with deep academic bi-literacy, whole-child skills and knowledge, and an optimistic, multi-cultural perspective. Through their illuminating journey, students grow more flexible and fluid, interested and interesting, persistent and positive. And always ready to shape and share their life’s successes, whatever the moment and wherever they go.

The École’s focus on bilingualism is what sets it apart, as can be seen in the school’s motto: Light through language. Students do not just learn French and English at The École; they learn in French and English. From Pre-Nursery onward, each class has both a French and an American teacher, who work together to make cohesive lesson plans. All classes, such as math, social studies, and science lessons are even taught in both languages simultaneously, allowing the students to make connections between the two different programs. Mandarin and Spanish are introduced in 3rd grade, and students can choose which they would like to study.

The French teachers at The École are certified by the French Ministry of Education and its American faculty members are certified by New York State. The École’s after-school program offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities to explore the arts and practice a multitude of sports.

In Fall 2021, The École has opened its first Pre-Nursery (Pre-N) class. The Pre-N welcome children who will be two years old by the end of December. They will now be able to benefit from The École’s unique bilingual curriculum. While the school is growing, The École is committed to keeping its ‘human size’, with a self-imposed limit of two classes of 20 students per grade for K-8th Grade and fewer students per grade for Pre-N through Pre-K. Register for an Open House
We invite all applicant families to come and meet us in person, at one of our Open Houses. The sessions begin with a review of our philosophy and curricula from our Head of School and key faculty members, followed with a short Q&A and a tour of the facilities in both our buildings. For families who are abroad, or for the ones who cannot attend an Onsite Open House, we are offering some Online Open Houses. All in all, we believe it’s a wonderful way to learn more about our program and get a feel for our community.
