The Studio School, founded in 1971, educates the hearts and minds of children and nurtures their authentic spirit and character. Students learn to value intellectual and creative ideas, and take pleasure in the process of discovery. Through educational theories established over four decades, Studio has a vigorous and innovative curriculum, putting it at the cutting edge of children’s education today. The Studio School’s approach blends an understanding of child development with a working knowledge of how children learn, a student-teacher relationship that is emotionally connective and an enriching learning environment that addresses the individual child. The Studio curriculum is more than learning skills and concepts; it’s a structure for mastering how to learn and think. Through small classes and seminars, students are encouraged and guided to think originally, trust their intuitive responses to information, and to articulate and share their knowledge and mastery. Studio School graduates are poised, self-motivated individuals who enjoy working collaboratively and possess the intellectual passion and determination to pursue the objectives of higher education. Facilities include a library, gymnasium, sky-lit art room with kiln, science laboratory, a teaching kitchen to complement its innovative Kitchen Science program and an outdoor yard.
