SMG Sportsplex at Metuchen has sports classes for your children ages 18 months to 12 years old. The Sportsplex offers three options in their Soccer Bugs, Sportsplex Soccer Training, and First Step Basketball Academy classes. Soccer Bugs is a child development program that combines the two most important aspects of a child’s life: play and social interaction. Their soccer based curriculum uses age appropriate games to encourage confidence, social skills, motor skills, balance and coordination. Sportsplex Soccer Training (SST) is a comprehensive training program that focuses on proper fundamental soccer skills. Coaches work not only to show the players proper form and technique, but also to educate them to understand where, when, and why to use the skills that are learned. The First Step Basketball Academy focuses on progress and not perfection. They teach the fundamentals of the game, but stress decision making and problem solving on the court in a practice environment.
