Hoff-Barthelson’s 30-week Music & Movement Classes for Young Children feature Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and are taught in small group settings that are both nurturing and stimulating. Music education exerts a profound impact on the development of a child’s intellect, personality, values and relationships. At Hoff-Barthelson, the very youngest students embark upon their journey of musical growth under the guidance of teachers who instill a life-long love of music. Many important skills are acquired through music and music activities: the ability to focus and concentrate, to listen and observe keenly, to become interested in watching and to take turns with peers. Parent/child classes have a maximum enrollment of eight children. This enables the children, parents and teacher in each class to forge a strong bond. Comfort is further achieved by the reassurance of familiar faces each week and predictable class procedures. Classes include The Guppies; Learning in the Lap; The Two’s; The Three’s; Getting to Know You (exploring the instruments); and Early Musicianship for 3, 4 and 5 year olds in age-appropriate classes.
