Becoming a lifelong reader begins with the love of a story. The Happy Bookworm classes expose children to age-appropriate literature that comes to life through hands-on art, music, poetry and movement activities. Classes begin with a variety of fun, educational toys which children can explore. Each week is a literature adventure! The journey begins with an engaging book, which becomes the theme for that class and features the letter of the day. Stories become interactive through the use of puppets, role playing and props. Children create an art project based on the book, which allows them to bring a part of the story home with them. The theme continues with poems, movement activities, music and instruments. The Happy Bookworm is run by New York State certified teachers who are experienced in elementary, special and early childhood education. Classes are available for children ages 15 months and older.
