The FDNY Fire Zone is one of the most advanced programs from the FDNY Foundation. Through a variety of hands-on exhibits and multi-media presentations, you’ll realize you can play a major role in preventing fires and making your family more safe. Climb aboard a fire engine and learn what it takes to be one of New York City’s bravest. Visitors are encouraged to explore the fire engine and equipment. The teamwork begins when a call comes into the firehouse, and the “Race to the Fire” takes you, in real-time, through the crowded streets of New York to the fire scene. You are then led into a recreated Fire Scene. Through real life testimonies, you learn how easily fires can start, how quickly they can spread and, most importantly, how an escape plan could get you to safety. Then visit the store for T-shirts, toys and more officially licensed FDNY products. A significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of these products goes to the FDNY Foundation, which supports the critical work of the New York City Fire Department. Great for groups and birthday parties, too.
