Finally, a program that nurtures the bodies and spirits of today’s toddlers from an organization committed to building community. Rutgers provides a sparkling clean space for the Body and Spirit program, which includes classes for toddlers, pre-k, afterschool, adult physical classes and also computer classes for middle school and adults. The summer season June 1-July 31 will feature all of the regular toddler classes and also the summer drop-off program for late 3-5 year olds. The program this year will be a create-your-own day, which will allow you to decide how long a day you want your child to have and how many days a week you want to be here. Program director Diane Nicole, long-time West Sider, has developed programs for toddlers since 1986. Rutgers Church was established to move forward with the ideas of a just, loving and peaceful world for all peoples. The Body and Spirit Program is committed to reaching out to everyone: toddlers through seniors of all cultures, faiths, ethnicities and abilities regardless of financial means. Rutgers is committed to building community and invites all to join and grow together. Present session runs through May. Registration is ongoing. Child’s Play is the unique, affordable playgroup program for children as young as 4 months and as old as 3 years and their parents (no nannies or sitters attend). Enjoy circle time, free play, an art project, story time and friendly adult conversation in a relaxed setting, guided by a group leader who is also a parent. Child’s Play director Holly Nedelka (holly@rutgerschurch.com) started the program more than 20 years ago when she was a stay-at-home mom, designing it especially for parents to connect with other parents while also being fun for kids. One great price for the whole family— siblings included! The Child’s Play Mandarin program is designed for both native Mandarin speakers and beginners. Classes and playgroups are offered to babies and children 4 months-7 years. You and your children will enjoy learning the Mandarin language and culture through hands-on activities: songs, stories, craft projects, movements and cultural celebrations. The immersion classes and playgroups also offer complementary take-home materials to help our toddlers, pre-schoolers and school-aged kids practice at home. Advanced-level children’s tutoring groups and multi-level adult classes are also available. Come for a trial class, or contact Linda Kuo at LKuo@rutgerschurch.com or the Child’s Play office. Registration is ongoing, and financial assistance and payment plans are available.
