Apple Montessori Schools and Summer Camps are celebrating 40 years of excellence in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education as well as specialty Summer Camp programs which offer a fun through learning camp experience for children 2-12 years of age. Apple’s recognized reputation stems from its steadfast ability to engage children in the love of learning using a multitude of experiences and activities. Open year round and offering summer camps in the months of July and August, Apple Montessori’s 17 locations include: Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Edison (2 locations), Guttenberg, Kinnelon, Mahwah, Metuchen, Morris Plains, Mount Tabor, Oakland, Randolph, Towaco, Wayne (3 locations), and West Milford. Daily swimming lessons are provided in unique swimming pools which have been designed with safety in mind; even their youngest swimmers acquire a sense of security and well-being almost instantly. In addition, campers participate in Arts and Crafts, Music, Dance and Drama, Organized Sports, Nature and Science, Field Trips, Theme Weeks and In-House events such as a visit from the Reptile Man or Carnival Ride Day! Apple’s distinctive and exceptional approach to learning is incorporated into the camp’s curriculum with exclusive programs like Montessori Super Kids and FastracKids. These programs promote school readiness for their youngest campers while helping older campers with individual, academic, skills as they minimize their “summer slump” or learning loss. Although Montessori is the largest educational organization in the world, all Montessori schools are individually owned and operated and therefore are all different. Apple Montessori schools have been owned by the Bailey family since 1971. They have taken the best of the Montessori philosophy and methods which were developed by Dr. Maria Montessori and have added a specialized reading program which when combined together lays the foundation for educational success. It is well known that a child learns the most and the easiest from birth to age six, it is during this stage that education has its greatest impact and therefore must be encouraged and nurtured. Apple uses special games and materials that have been made and designed specifically for young children. Each game teaches a specific skill through hands on involvement and play. Each child is allowed to develop at his or her own pace, going as slowly or quickly as he or she may need to without any pressure. The child is not pushed to move ahead before he or she is ready or held back when he or she is ready to move. This individualized approach creates success and fosters confidence and self-esteem while emphasizing that learning is fun! Apple’s unique classroom management style is evident when you first enter the room as it is noticeably calm and organized. Children are engaged and interacting with each other and the materials as they truly learn social skills. Each location offers a half day session in the morning from 8:30 to 11:30 or in the afternoon from 12:30 to 3:30, as well as a full day session from 8:30 to 3:30. Before and after school programs are also available. All locations are open from 7am to 6pm.
