When it comes to fitness, every child is a winner at the 92nd Street Y May Center for Health, Fitness and Sport. Age-appropriate classes include tennis lessons, Super Soccer Stars™, Track & Field Club, “Hoops 92” basketball leagues, yoga, Pilates and so much more. Gymnastics is truly something to flip over. For 2-4 year olds, Tiny Tumblers and Tumbling Toddlers classes focus on enhancing motor skills, body awareness, strength and flexibility. Four-14 year olds also enjoy a variety of gymnastics classes and competitive teams that offer great physical education in a fun, safe, state-of-the-art environment. All gymnastics instructors are USA Gymnastics Safety-Certified. For the child who can’t get enough of the water, Aquatics at 92Y is second to none. Polliwogs, Minnows and Guppies are classes certified by the American Red Cross for infants and preschoolers. Private and semi-private lessons offer professional one-on-one instruction and great playdate opportunities. There’s competitive coaching and Flying Dolphins Swim Team. Plus, the Learn-To-Swim program offers an introduction to fundamental water skills, stroke development, improvement and refinement, lifeguard training and more. Upon successful completion of each level, swimmers receive their American Red Cross card. For more information on fitness offerings for children and parents, visit www.92Y.org/MayCenter.
