Writer's Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in PARENTGUIDE News, the New York metropolitan area’s oldest and largest parenting publication. We are a monthly magazine catering to the needs and interests of parents who have children under the age of 12 in New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, Rockland County, Westchester County and Queens. Our total print circulation is 285,000. Once articles run in print, they are posted and archived online at www.parentguidenews.com. Our site receives about four million hits every month. PARENTGUIDE’s full-run monthly columns and feature articles cover health, education, travel, family fun, child-rearing, parenting issues, special needs, women’s interests and other family-focused topics that appeal to readers nationwide. Our columns and local articles specific to each edition’s geographic region cover recreational activities, social events and nonprofit organizations. We also have a comprehensive calendar of local events, in print and online. We welcome articles from professional authors as well as never-before-published writers. Share your personal experiences, advice in the parenting arena, humorous anecdotes, family concerns, health knowledge, professional wisdom or newsworthy observations with us. Manuscripts can be written in either third or first person format. You are invited to send a query letter or finished manuscript by e-mail, which is preferable, fax or snail mail. Allow for a three-month lead time. All manuscripts must be typed, double-spaced and between 750-1,000 words. A brief bio should be included and, if possible, photos or any other artwork. No mailed manuscripts will be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope and a note requesting the return to sender.
PARENTGUIDE News assumes no responsibility for the loss or damage of submitted materials. As a free publication, we do not offer financial payment to any of our freelance writers. However, all contributors receive masthead credit, a byline and a two-three sentence bio. We retain the publishing rights for one year.
