The nonprofit Long Island Science Center promotes the love of math, science and technology through hands-on exhibits and demonstrations and programs for visitors of all ages. Learning at LISC is encouraged in an exciting interactive environment, and summer camp is no exception to this philosophy! Camp Invention, a National Inventors Hall of Fame program, is hosted by LISC at school districts for children in grades k-6. Campers participate in units based on real life scenarios and use vital problem solving skills. Budding scientists spend the summer tapping into their creativity and natural sense of discovery as their imaginations run wild! They engage in logical and deductive thinking, hands-on exploration, theory development and testing, experimentation, team work and above all— they get excited about learning because they have so much fun doing it! Counselors ages 15 and older work closely with teachers and campers, along with junior counselors ages 12-14. In addition to summer camp, the LISC also features ongoing exhibits, outreach programs, Scout workshops, internships, birthday parties and much more! To jump right into the captivating world of science, call or stop by the scenic Riverhead location, directly overlooking the Peconic River and Grangerbel Park.
