The Happy Campers Program is a co-ed
recreational program for children in 1st to 4th grade. The
program runs for eight weeks beginning June 30 and ending
August 22. The camp is sponsored by the Douglass Psychology
Child Study Center at Rutgers University, a full-day preschool
and is located at the Douglass College Center. Registration
is on a weekly basis. There is no minimum number of weeks
required for enrollment. Weekly activities are based upon
a theme of the week that include arts and crafts, science,
special event days, fitness classes, recreational swimming,
group games, weekly trips and cooking. “Special”
classes are conducted weekly and may include tae kwon do,
gymnastics and/or fitness classes. Recreational swimming is
available; lessons are not provided. The recreational center
provides lifeguards who are present when the children are
in the pool. In addition, program staff members swim with
the children. To register, call the number above or visit
the Web site.
