At The Blue Kangaroo Day School, characteristics
such as self-confidence, independence, curiosity, persistence,
social skills, and the ability to concentrate and organize
are all encouraged and developed. For infants 6 weeks to 1
year old, caregivers help the child build a sense of security,
confidence and trust. They work closely with the parents to
customize a daily routine that will fit the family’s
needs. Woddlers (12-18-month-olds) are encouraged to explore,
and activities are child initiated. The activities offered
for this age group are for manipulation and exploration. In
the Toddler Program, 18-month to 2-year-olds are surrounded
with meaningful language to enhance the learning value of
each new experience. Children enjoy sand play, water play,
toy riding, shape sorting, block building, kitchen play, dressing
up and more. In PreK I (for children 2.3 - 3 years old) children
learn to interact with their peers rather than near their
peers. Group activities are extended and academic introduction
will begin to take their place. Pre-K II (3-4 years) and PreK
III (4-5 years) prepares children for Kindergarten with lessons
geared toward readiness skills and self expression. Young
5s for 5-6-year-olds is a small group setting consisting of
children who have missed the Kindergarten cut-off dates. Students
are offered a variety of activities to enhance social development,
as well as pre-math and pre-reading skills. Reading Readiness,
Math Readiness, Art, Science and Practical Life are offered
for all of the pre-school programs. The learning continues
with a Kindergarten program, and afterschool care for children
ages 5-12. Enrichment programs include “Computer Tots”,
“Stretch-n-Grow”, “Tumble Bus”, Music,
Dance classes, Soccer lessons, and Tae Kwon Do.
