Thankful for Humor

Wed Nov 02 2011

Molly played a trick right before Halloween that had us all laughing, especially me. I had been sitting in traffic on a rainy Thursday night that took me three hours to get home from New York City. While I was speaking with my son-in-law during my drive, he suddenly stopped talking in a fit of hysterical laughter. Once he gained control, my son-in-law proceeded to tell me that 3-year-old Molly went up to her baby sister’s room, realizing the baby monitor connection would reach her dad who was in the kitchen speaking with me and was not paying close attention to her. Molly thus stood in the nursery saying, "Daddy can you hear me now?" If this was not a baby intercom commercial moment, I don't know what else could be. What continues to amaze me is how lucky I am to have the ability to hear and see my grandchild's sense of humor develop at her age.

Can you think back to your first funny moment in your life? Your child's life? I think back to how I first met my husband and that too was filled with humor.

I am so thankful for the humor I get to experience and share with my family and friends. I do not know where I would be without it. Having the ability to laugh is the most precious gift, and when I get to share it with my 3-year-old granddaughter, her parents, my husband and my mom, Molly's great grandma, it is just awesome. Four generations of laughter. How blessed are we?

Happy Thanksgiving! Have a fun-filled day, dress your turkey with a mini skirt and go go boots and laugh a little.
