I Just Called to Say I Love You
The message signal on my phone's voicemail was blinking as I walked in the door the other day. When played back the message, I heard a loud and clear, “HI BEA BEA!” I just beamed from ear to ear. I kept playing it back to hear this little enthusiastic almost 2-year-old voice resonate in my ears. That's my granddaughter. Whoever came through the front door had to hear the message, too. Such a simple little hello makes my day.
Is it just because it is my granddaughter? Is it because she genuinely sounds happy to call me? When we answer the phone, do we sound happy? When we call people, do we sound excited to talk to them? Then I really got to thinking about this and reflected on my happy phone calls. Sometimes my husband will call and leave a hysterical message or a loving message on my cell phone, and I beam from ear to ear. Then I will get a call from my daughter Amy saying, “I love you, mom” and again I will beam from ear to ear. I never beam from ear to ear if I hear, “Call me back,” click. So I think I am going to try making and receiving phone calls with the same enthusiasm that my granddaughter shared with me and see what happens. A life lesson from Molly. She captures my heart. For Valentines Day, I am going to make her something special. What special ideas do you have for the children in your life? (That could include your spouse, too!)
