For those of you who might not know, just about six months ago my wife, my daughter and I moved into a brand new house in Long Island. The ass-end of Long Island mind you, but Long Island just the same. For almost 8 years we all lived together in a little shoe box of an apartment in Queens. So small you had to go outside to change your mind, we used to joke. Lol. Now all of a sudden we are in a HUGE house with a big backyard, a nice front lawn, dining room, garage, driveway, a big bedroom for Meg, her own personal play room and of course, a man cave in the basement to call my very own. We were also blessed with some great friends and neighbors around who have made the transition that much easier. If there is ONE thing about the new place that I am having trouble adjusting to it's being a slave to the Long Island Rail Road...UGH!!! This is all brand new to me. I spent my whole live in Manhattan and Queens...where subway cars roll by every few minutes. And if it is shut down, there are buses and cabs on every block. But out here? the hell have people been doing this for so long? To anyone reading this who has been taking the LIRR for years, you have my utmost respect. I could go on compaining for awhile...but I promised you last night I wouldn't ramble. So I will just say this. Last night...100 degree air-conditioning in my car. Tonight...waiting on a sweltering platform in Jamaica...half-hour delays. Did I mention the word "UGH" yet? Okay, so I made it home eventually and it IS the weekend.

And what I did manage to do for myself is what I like to fondly call "Double My Pleasure, Double My Fun." That is because I was able to double up my workouts today. Got in my usual early morning jaunt to the LIRR shuttle bright and early in the humidity. Then even with the delay, I still got out of work early enough (Summer Fridays ROCK!) to walk the two miles home. I was soaked with sweat when I walked through the door, but that is just so I know I was doing it On top of my walks...I got my beautiful and exhausted little girl to sleep and was able to head downstairs for not one...but two...rounds with my trusty deck of cards. Been wanting to try that out for awhile. I was panting when it was over...but I got through it. And like I said, that just means I was doing it right! Got some good physical work in today...and this week in general.Almost looking forward to colliding with the scale on Monday morning. Ummm, And now it is time to head off to bed. But first let me say a special thanks to our great new neighbors John and Christine, Timmy and Patty and Sandra and well as our old friends (and new neighbors) Matt and Sylvia (and Thomas and Tyler too). Moving away from our home after so long...cramped or not..was not an easy thing to do. You guys all made it a lot more bearable and we can't thank you enough. Looking forward to celebrating at our block party tomorrow!

Good Night All. Until Tomorrow...
