School's Out
Finally the school year has come to an end. Crew had such a hard time with the last month. No real schedule: half days with lunch, half days without lunch. It was all too confusing for him and actually me as well. In our district, middle school starts in 5th grade. That is where Crew will be going in September. It will be such a great change. He has been in the same surroundings for five years. Crew entered elementary school non-verbal. He has completed it reciting the “Pledge of Allegiance” while holding a microphone for the 4th grade moving up day. There wasn't a dry eye in the place. The children all sang the song the “Climb” by Miley Cirus. It was so appropriate for Crew. “There is always gonna be another mountain, I'm always gonna want to make it move.” Crew surely climbed some mountains during elementary school. Some were high, and tough and some turned into milestones. I couldn't have been more proud that day, as were many other people. All of the teachers who have spent years trying to make Crew verbal, his aide who after five years had to say her goodbyes, it was a day of accomplishments and milestones for all. Thank you, Pawling Elementary.

You know that I'm crying with you right now because the strides made by Crew and your entire family's "new normal" shouldn't go unnoticed by anyone!
